It was my grandma’s 10th year memorial service, so the whole family travelled down to my hometown- Mopa Amuro LGA in Kogi state on the weekend of the 2nd. It’s been 5years since my last visit. The last time I was here was for my traditional wedding.
My maternal grandparents had 10 kids, so I have A LOT of cousins, some of whom I’ve never met, and some of them have kids older than me (those cousins we call aunties lol). Its always good to see family you haven’t seen in a while, I doubt if any of us got more than 4 hours of sleep through out our stay. There was so much catching up to do. We would stay up all night, gisting, drinking palmwine (excluding me) and just disturbing the peace.
On our arrival back in Abuja, we all took turns getting sick. I’m actually still recovering, I think it was probably the change of environment/weather or some community-acquired infection.
…Here are a few photographs from my trip… Enjoy!
At the football competition between all secondary schools in my village. This t-shirt was pure white before I took these pictures.
Day2- Thanksgiving service.
Oh let me tell you about this dress….it messed me up!
I woke up very early, had my bath, did my makeup, got Asher ready, the only thing that was left for me to do was to put on my dress and head out for the church service. My sister, Kemi tried to help me pull up my zipper and it straight up BROKE… OMG wan ti mu mi, my enemies! But seriously I felt my heart drop, I just started crying and sweating and crying… What was I going to do? I had a key role to play in church. Everyone was running late so they all left me, I was completely alone (I mean there were some women working around the house and all, but for the purpose of exaggeration…) Anyway, I saw one of our neighbors outside and asked her to help me find a tailor, she had to send someone on a bike to the next village to find a good tailor. At this point I already gave up on attending the church service, I didn’t even feel like doing anything again, I just wanted to go back home to Abuja. Well, they finally brought the dress back to me after an hour, so I put it on and took these beautiful pictures. *whew, what a day.
